How to Write Location Pages That Actually Rank

The difference between a template with the town name swapped in and a page that earns local rankings.

May 5, 2026 · 7 min read

Location pages are the standard way to reach towns outside your map radius, and most of them fail because they are duplicates with a find-and-replace applied.

Include something only a local would know

Reference actual neighborhoods, housing stock, common building ages, permit quirks, traffic patterns or seasonal issues specific to that municipality.

This is the fastest test of quality: if a competitor could publish your page for their town by changing one word, it has no differentiating value.

Show proof of work in that town

Projects completed, reviews from residents, photos with recognizable context. Evidence of actual service is both a ranking signal and the thing that convinces the visitor.

Build fewer, better pages

Five substantial location pages outperform thirty thin ones, and they avoid the thin-content risk that comes with mass-generated town pages.
